I don't know anything about this glue, but I really trust this company. The Germans have stronger safety standards than we do. Still, I understand your concern. My children never chewed balls.

We found one store in town ("Mother Nature's" in Portland, OR- a really great store) that had one Pontino so we snagged it. Glad we did because our little 6 mth old boy finds it endlessly amusing.

I'm concerned about the glue that covers the little red knots inside of the colorful wooden balls (because these always end up in baby's mouth). We emailed Selecta and they got back to us (very quickly) about their adherence (regarding the glue- ha) to the highest safety standards (German and American) but I'm still a bit wary of it all. Just for the heck of it, I decided to see how the glue tasted, myself, and I found it to be a bit bitter. As such, I'm considering their removal (snip snip).

What are your thoughts on this or do you know anything more about the glue)?

thanks!
