Thanks for bringing that to my attention too, Erin. I had heard of SLS, but had never really done much research in regard to them. I hadn't realized the problems that could be associated with them.

Erin, I just read more carefully the information on Aubrey Organics site. SLES may not be the urban legend it has been made out to be. I think I will try another product for my children. Thank you for your comments.

Snopes claims that this is an urban legend.
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/shampoo.asp, but many other sites debate the safety of it (http://scentsnsensibility.com/newsletter/May0701.htm). It is derived from coconut, and Toms of Maine stands behind their use (http://www.tomsofmaine.com/toms/ifs/sls.asp), whereas Aubrey Organics (http://www.aubrey-organics.com/about/articles/shampoo.cfm) is opposed to its usage. I think Sodium Laureth Sulfate has been debunked as carcinogenic, but it can be an irritant. Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I was not aware of this issue. I too like California Baby products, but they are a lot more expensive. It is so hard to stay on top of all these things, that's why I started the blog!

I purchased this for my daughter before she was born and quickly realized that it contains SLS (sodium laureth sulfate) which is a probable carcinogen. I wasn't sure if you were aware of this.

California Baby Products are all hypallergenic and do not contain any chemicals! (I don't get payed to promote their products, I just like them!)

I love your blog. Thanks for keeping everyone informed of living a greener lifestyle with children!
