I can't have soy, which is in a lot of margarines, so I used Soy-Free Earth Balance Buttery Spread and they turned out GREAT! I have not tried oil, but I think it would work fine. I don't think you would need to tweak anything. Maybe add flax seeds instead of nuts to boost the nutritional value. Momma in MA,
