Mylicon Recall: Popular Gas Relief Product May Contain Metal

Tell a friend, tell a neighbor, tell everyone you know.

Johnson and Johnson has issued a recall of their very popular Gas Relief drops. About 12,000 units of Mylicon drops to relieve gas for infants were recalled Monday because some bottles could include pieces of metal. Yes, metal.

As if being a new mother isn’t difficult enough.

The recalled bottles are from lots SMF007 and SMF008. These numbers are printed on the bottom of the box and on the lower-left side of the sticker on each bottle.

If you have a fussy baby and you suspect it’s gas try these old fashioned remedies. All of them might not work for you, but you only need one silver bullet.

  • Burp baby well by rubbing their back in circles and then tapping
  • While burping have baby’s belly firmly against you
  • Gripe water
  • Crying may bring about more gas, letting a newborn “cry it out” may backfire
  • Colic Calm

And by all means Moms and Dads please list your best results in the comments here. We all need to help each other out on this one since big pharma is putting our babies lives at risk. I won’t even ask how metal got into this product, the answer might kill me.

Sickening. I feel like screaming at the world today and this just adds to it.

Though I know it’s not exactly eco-friendly, my newborn babies both seemed to get some relief from the sound of the hair dryer. This was in the 6 week to 3 month period –the time when we blame most crying on gas even though baby might just be missing the old hood. Eventually we bought one of those white noise things that took batteries. We called it my son’s vibrator. He took it everywhere with him for a few weeks.

Breastmilk.

It is more easily digested than formula, causing less stomach discomfort in the baby.

There seems to be alot of problems lately with infant products. Something needs to be done.I just had a baby two months ago and I just soothe him by using natural techniques.I just would’nt use any over the counter products.

GRIPE WATER!!!!! This works so well..my son was a very colicky baby and I used gripe water and it would calm him down in two seconds and allow him to actually sleep and me too..I still use it now for fits of gas and it helps him get it out within seconds..its all natural so no meds to worry about.I never thought mylicon drops worked i tried them a couple of times but they didn’t seem to do anything..
