Disneynature Giveaway: Celebrating Earth Day With James Earl Jones
Earth Day is a fantastic holiday. I’ve heard folks say that it’s the most celebrated secular holiday ever.
This year to celebrate Earth Day Disneynature, Disney’s new independent film label, will release their first film, Earth. Earth is narrated by James Earl Jones and tells the remarkable story of three animal families and their amazing journey across the planet we all call home. Earth combines rare action, unimaginable scale and impossible locations by capturing the most intimate moments of our planet’s wildest and most elusive creatures. Directors Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, the acclaimed creative team behind the Emmy Award-winning “Planet Earth” series combine forces again to bring this epic adventure to the big screen, beginning Earth Day 2009. To celebrate the film’s theatrical release, Disneynature will be planting a tree in the endangered Brazilian Atlantic Rain Forest in honor of every person who sees the film during its opening week!

unfortunately i’ll be at work. :\
We’ll be working in our garden and cleaning up the yard.
We’ll be in church that night- the usual. Unfortunately the earth day activities in our area all happen during my babe’s nap time. We did get to celebrate earth hour though. That was fun.
I plan on spending some time in the garden with my daughter. We like to pull weeds, water flowers, watch worms crawl, and play in the dirt. I love seeing nature through her eyes.
We’ll be planting our vegetable garden and some blueberries along with doing a fun reusable craft project at my daughter’s school. Then at the end of the week we’ll be doing community-wide Earth Day projects at her school as well.
I just caught the world premiere here in Hollywood to cover for ECP and Shaping Youth this week, but on Earth Day itself, I’ll probably be supporting the film in S.F. doing exit poll interviews with a Flip cam to talk to kids about their impressions (and to plant a tree)
Added bonus? Got to chat with Wyland about his whale wall refurbishment in Long Beach and his 4000 sq. ft. painting revealed at the premiere. He’s doing awesome work in marine life preservation with kids as ambassadors for his foundation!
(p.s. As you know, I’m not wanting the ’stuff’ just checkin’ in here from afar so disqualify me for any drawings etc. please!)
We will be taking a hike with our cleanup gear unless the boys decide they want to walk to beach and cleanup there instead. In the late afternoon I believe there is an Earth Day celebration in our town.
[...] green scene with freebies, Earth Day cards (Gathering Home has a nice round-up) and other Earth Day tie-ins and giveaways, or we can embrace every effort from every corridor (corporation to kids) to help all ages begin to [...]
I will be spending the week of Earth Day working in my garden with my 4 year old and starting on my compost pile.
I will definitely be going to see Earth on Earth Day! Trees are expensive, so buying a movie ticket is the easiest way to plant one. I will also go disc golfing = )
