My name is Lauren Sarkis; I am 8th grade student at Flat Rock Middle School in Tyrone, GA. Currently, I am working on my Silver Award for Girl Scout troop 19079 in The Greater Atlanta Chapter. My project is one I am very passionate about. My goal is to collect 150 backpacks stuffed with school supplies for the children at the Atlanta Women’s Day Shelter. Since the mothers do not have a permanent place to live they register their children at the day shelter and children are allowed to attend the local schools. I am asking for donations of various style backpacks. I would be grateful for anything that you would consider to donate. The motto of the shelter is, “A Place for Hope”. I am working hard to make that motto a realistic start for these children in the beginning of their school year 2010-2011.

The shelter is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization, Tax ID # 58-1679617.

I would like to deliver the backpacks to the shelter late July 2010-2011. If you need a formal written letter from me please send me the name of the person who needs to review this request and an address.

These children dream of a bigger and better world than they get to see daily. Please help me with my Girl Scout Silver Award to make their school year a success.

Sincerely,

Lauren Sarkis

Love the eco-friendly backpacks! Need a "gree" alternative to the metal or plastic lunch box? You can find a durable, lightweight and colorful lunch bag for your kids at www.ahealthygreenhom.com. The lunch bag is made from recycled rice sacks and is waterproof, lightweight, and packs flat. Best of all it is very affordable. Only $12.50 each!
