An Open Letter To My Husband On Valentines Day
Posted in:
The last 13 years have been wonderful. I’ve had necklaces in champagne glasses, a proposal on Wesminster Bridge and gourmet dinners lovingly prepared when we lived on love (because we sure as heck weren’t living on money).
This year Valentine’s Day will be on a Saturday. I think we all know what that means.
This year Valentine’s Day is about all four of us being together. We’ll bake something pink and do a pomegrantine lemonade.
But darlin’ you’ve still got to pony up with some gifts. Here’s what I’m demanding I’d really like.

For the kids:
A tickle me plant. Last year we got a few of these and Alexander was so thrilled watching it grow. He checked it every morning and looked up the lifecycle of a plant so that he could learn more about it. Added bonus? It’s only $6 per child.
Also, it really does wiggle after the second set of leaves pop out. Call me easily entertained… but gosh it was fun, and they lasted for the better part of a year.
For me:
I want roses and labor. There’s a great little nursery over in West LA… (I’ll text you driving directions). If you could pick up a nice red rosebush, something fragrant and maybe a climber then we could spend the afternoon gardening.
And then later… well… maybe not in public.
Seriously, no decapitated flowers for me this year.
xoxo
