Breastfeeding is a popular topic on Eco Child’s Play, and this week is World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 2008. World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated in over 120 countries around the world, and this year the Olympics are providing inspiration for families “Going for the Gold“. According to the La Leche League, the gold standard of breastfeeding is: “breastfeeding exclusively for six months, and providing appropriate complementary foods with continued breastfeeding for up to two years or beyond.” The focus of this year’s WBW is supporting mothers, which we will do by sharing our stories and discussing breastfeeding on our forum, as well as having a Mother’s Milk giveaway!

As part of World Breastfeeding Week 2008, we are hosting a contest as part of our Mother’s Milk Series. To enter, simply participate in the Eco Child’s Play forum discussion on breastfeeding. Share a breastfeeding story, discuss breastfeeding products and books, explain how long you think a child should breastfeed, share weaning experiences, talk about the benefits of breastfeeding, etc. To enter the contest, all you have to do is participate in this forum discussion to win. On Sunday, August 10, 2008, we will randomly select three winners from this forum’s participants. We will be giving away two Socktopus and one organic Blessed Nest Nesting Pillow from Bambino Land.
