The Germans know how to build high quality, natural toys. The Selecta Pontino wooden baby gym is the best toy for your young child. Baby’s love to lie under the wooden arch and kick their legs or reach their arms for the dangling bird, bells, and rings. As your baby grows, the sturdy base allows the child to pull themselves to standing without toppling the Pontino baby gym over. This wooden baby gym is more expensive than the commonly sold cloth versions, however this toy grows with your child and is the kind of toy you will want to save for your grandchildren. I would rather spend more money on fewer, high quality toys rather than fill my home with lots of inexpensive toys that will end up in the landfill. I had trouble finding the Selecta Pontino baby gym and had to have it custom ordered through a Selecta dealer in Oregon. There are a few US websites now in which you can purchase this amazing toy.

We found one store in town (“Mother Nature’s” in Portland, OR- a really great store) that had one Pontino so we snagged it. Glad we did because our little 6 mth old boy finds it endlessly amusing.
I’m concerned about the glue that covers the little red knots inside of the colorful wooden balls (because these always end up in baby’s mouth). We emailed Selecta and they got back to us (very quickly) about their adherence (regarding the glue- ha) to the highest safety standards (German and American) but I’m still a bit wary of it all. Just for the heck of it, I decided to see how the glue tasted, myself, and I found it to be a bit bitter. As such, I’m considering their removal (snip snip).
What are your thoughts on this or do you know anything more about the glue)?
thanks!

I don’t know anything about this glue, but I really trust this company. The Germans have stronger safety standards than we do. Still, I understand your concern. My children never chewed balls.
