As I enter the middle of my third trimester in my third pregnancy (don’t come after me, environmentalists), I’m trying to do my best to not only take care of my baby but also myself. For me, that means seeking out organic products and remedies that actually work and make life a little easier and comfortable.
Like many people these days, my budget doesn’t afford me the option to purchase completely organic items for myself and my baby and I’m not the crafty type by any means, but there are several organic pregnancy essentials that I’ve found I just can’t live without.
- The Earth Mama Baby Angel products are free of all the icky stuff and full of everything natural and organic that actually work. My fave is their Body Butter — but I’m also smitten with the foot soak (my poor swollen tootsies).
- Many experienced moms might argue the need for a nursing pillow, but the organic pillows from Blessed Nest are definitely a must-have in my book. Not only do they mold to your body (and your baby’s) for breastfeeding, but they are also great for back support before the baby arrives. Definitely needed in the last few weeks of your pregnancy!
- The Bamboo Belly Band has been my friend throughout the latter half of my pregnancy. Granted it doesn’t hold up my pants, but it makes my shrinking shirts a bit longer in appearance, thus covering the annoying band of my shorts and pants. And the bamboo makes it super soft on the sensitive pregnant belly.
- And of course, no organic pregnancy is complete without the corresponding text The Complete Organic Pregnancy. Authors Alex Zissu and Deirdre Dolan offer a no-guilt guide to organic pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. It’s one of my personal faves.
What are some of your favorite organic pregnancy essentials?

There are some great nursing tops out there as well. Though they weren’t intended as a nursing top, at Maggie’s Organics we’ve received a lot of positive feedback on our cross tops as fashionable and convenient nursing tops. Plus we have them listed on sale now!

I’m expecting #3 also, but no favorite products yet. I’m just really grateful that we hadn’t quite gotten rid of all the supplies from my previous two pregnancies. We had been talking about it!
I like the looks of the bamboo belly band, although I don’t think I’ll get one. My very supportive maternity girdle is ugly, but an absolute lifesaver when it comes to some of the aches I’ve been dealing with already at just 13 weeks along.
