Do you let your children talk on your cell phone? Do your children have their very own mobile phones? Do you worry about cell phone radiation? You should be:
Swedish researchers have found that children and teenagers are five times more likely to get brain cancer from mobile phones, causing concern their may be an epidemic of the disease for young people later in life.
Such concern has led the French government banned cell phone use for toddlers.
The truth is, we are all at risk from cell phone radiation, no matter our age. I just got a new iPhone 5. I found the following information under the settings:
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) refers to the rate at which the body absorbs RF energy. SAR limits are 1.6 Watts per kilogram (over a volume containing a mass of 1 gram of tissue) in countries that follow the United States FCC limit and 2.0 W/kg (averaged over 10 grams of tissue) in countries that follow the Council of the European Union limit. During testing, iPhone radios are set to their highest transmission levels and placed in positions that simulate use against the head, with no separation, and near the body, with 10mm separation.
To reduce exposure to RF energy, use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speakerphone, the supplied headphones or other similar accessories. Carry iPhone at least 10mm away from your body to ensure exposure levels remain at or below the as-tested levels.
10 mm is not very far away, but when I can’t hear well because of ambient noise, like in the car, I definitely hold my phone closer to my ear (and brain). It is actually why I prefer texting to talking.
If you own an Android, there’s an app called Too Close that will help keep your phone at a safe distance.
Phone radiation warnings are published in all user manuals by law, but many users forget to keep the phone at a safe distance from the head. In order to address the issue, Green Swan, Inc. is proud to introduce the release of Too Close™ for Android, a unique new software product designed to warn users when the phone gets “too close” to the head in violation of published SAR safety guidelines.
Too Close™ takes advantage of spatial proximity data in the Android OS with a proprietary system designed to issue an alert any time the cellular phone remains near the head for a certain period of time. At set intervals, alarms will sound reminding users to move the phone away from the head. The alerts are conveniently suppressed while in headset or speakerphone mode, thereby encouraging compliance with FCC safety guidelines.
This app is really easy to use. I hope Green Swan develops one for the iPhone soon!
disclosure: The products described above were sent to us as free samples. Prior assurances as to the nature of the reviews, whether positive or negative, were not given. No financial payments were accepted in exchange for the reviews. The reviews reflect our honest, authentic opinions.

As usual Europe is always ahead when it comes to protecting the health of its citizens and Americans are left to fend for themselves! We obviously have a long way to go before the truth is fully admitted (just like the tobacco industry) and in the meantime, we can learn safer new habits. All phones should come pre-installed with such an app since no one ever reads their manual! Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Shelly for the URL. I have started to turn everything off at night and when not in use (modem, cell phones, computers, handheld…)
I have another site that I receive updates from called: http://electromagnetichealth.org
They cover health, legal implications, technology, you mention it.
Very complete and reliable data.
Thank God for all these courageous organizations. Without them we probably could be all dead by now! Technology is a great thing but not at the cost of our health, the planet and future generations. Actually, someone should be representing each of them at all great gatherings of nations (UN, EU, etc). We can’t live or survive without them, so why shouldn’t they have a voice and a vote in all big decisions?

In response to Jennifer’s point…
Green Swan was started in Marin County, California, by people who grew up in Marin. Marin is one of the areas where the Apple Iphone dominates. So we are constantly reminded that our Too Close software, Green Swan’s Too Close for Android, is not yet available for IOS. When we saw Jennifer’s wish that the app were available on Iphone, we all felt it deeply. I write to offer comment and hope.
One of the great beauties of the Android OS environment is that it is an open tool box, and developers have very wide discretion in what they can do. One of the great challenges of the Android OS environment is that it is an open tool box, and developers have very wide discretion in what they can do. Android can be wild terrain, compared to IOS, and more flexible. We could not have brought Too Close to you otherwise, because one major advantage of Too Close is that it runs “in background,” so that it is on “all the time,” and reminds you, during every call, to keep the cellphone away from your head. Our app tells the user, “Too Close!” in three languages (soon to be six).
While there are some advantages to the high level of control that Apple exercises over its IOS, continuity, reliability and immunity from some sorts of bad programming, IOS puts a considerable damper on creativity in the name of control. Thus, we cannot program “in background” in the IOS environment. That is why we offer Too Close only in Android.
But – help is on the way. We can’t disclose all yet, but we will offer an approach which will work on virtually all smartphones, including IOS. We will, though, I promise this, soon bring you a product that will provide benefits every bit as good as Too Close, and which will work with both the Iphone and Android systems, but I can’t get into any detail on that at this time. Watch http://www.greenswan.org, and I am hoping, so very strongly, that we can have this in your hands by the end of the year.
