I have been eating more raw food in the last year. In fact, the only meal I eat that is cooked is dinner usually. Raw food makes me feel better. It gives me more energy, and it makes me feel more full, so I eat less filler foods that leave me sluggish.
Some people (and cookbooks) get quite extravagant with their raw recipes using exotic, expensive ingredients and multiple steps over extended periods of time. Although I admire this effort to remain true to rawness, I don’t have the time nor the gumption. That’s why[amazon_link id=”0778804550″ target=”_blank” ]Raw, Quick and Delicious!: 5-Ingredient Recipes in Just 15 Minutes[/amazon_link] by Douglas McNish is so appealing to me as a vegetarian cookbook.
Raw-food diets have become increasingly popular and more and more people are looking to incorporate raw foods into their diets. The problem is that many raw food recipes require significant planning and preparation (using a dehydrator or a sprouting technique, etc.). That’s where these delicious and tantalizing recipes are different — all can be prepared and on the table in 15 minutes or less!
It’s now so easy to add these nutrient-rich dishes to your lifestyle — whether you’re fully committed to the raw food lifestyle, curious about the lifestyle or simply someone who wishes to incorporate more energizing dishes into their mealtime routine.
There are more than 175 fantastic recipes for main courses like Sweet Potato Enchilada, Shepherds Pie, Curried Cashew and Mixed Vegetables and Lime, Tomato and Avocado Chili. And for all those pasta lovers, Doug has masterfully created great substitutes for the real thing like Carrot Pad Thai, Celery Root Ravioli and Zucchini Fettuccini Alfredo.
I think I will make the Avocado Cucumber Hand Rolls for lunch tomorrow! YUMMY!
And the Coconut Macaroons…don’t get me started. I will eat them all!
The photographs in this cookbook are inspiring and are making me hungry.
It is important to note that most of these recipes require a food processor.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who simply wants to eat more and learn about raw food, as well as hard core raw foodies.
