I love to read. I love to read to my children. It is my favorite thing to do, but I only love to read good books.
We were sent a copy of [amazon_link id=”B00G6HNZRG” target=”_blank” ]The Treebobs and Air Rena: Air Rena[/amazon_link] by Declan Harney to review.
“Rotten Rena, the wicked witch of the Enchanted Forest, is back and this time she is flying high in her very own airship and causing mayhem. Things go from bad to worse when Rena’s troll workforce, the Neerdowells, arrive and there seems little hope of saving the forest from the prospect of Air Rena. That is until Bindweed Belle and a Treebob find the strangest of all magical characters yet to help save the day.”
This is another story in the popular Treebobs series and features the popular characters of Bindweed Belle and of course the wicked witch Rotten Rena. The Treebobs books by Declan Harney have found wide spread acclaim. They provide a mix of comical fantasy with positive messages, all of which appeal to children and adults alike.
Tales 4 All are also pleased to announce that 20% of the profits from every sale of this book will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s charity.
I started to read this story aloud to my son, but he found the story confusing and didn’t want to finish it. I agree, the character names and plot are a little perplexing, and I was disappointed the environmental themes were not more developed, such as the consequences of clearing the forest for Rena’s airship. Having not read any of the other treebobs books, I had no basis to understand the protagonists and antagonists of this story.
I did like now the denouement of the story…the bees and Mr. McCloud combine efforts to rain a sticky, hone rain on the airship causing it to fall to earth and be ruined.
