Writing Wild: Connecting creativity with the natural world

Everything we know about creating, we know intuitively from the natural world.  Over and over, nature shows us rules of creativity.

Writing is therapeutic. Writing is creativity.  Writing is expression.

It took me a long time to be able to call myself a writer.  Sure, I was getting paid for my writing, but in my heart I did not think I lived up to this title.  I did not trust or believe in myself.

Every day I walk in nature. I cannot function without it. Even when visiting cities, like my recent trip the Bay Area, I find a natural spot to walk (even if walking along the bay towards San Quentin).

Nature is our first mother and our first love, our first teacher in the lessons of life and the lessons of death.

I start my day with these lessons. I end my day with these lessons.  Connecting with nature has allowed me to finally believe myself a writer!

We were sent [amazon_link id=”1608682862″ target=”_blank” ]Writing Wild: Forming a Creative Partnership with Nature[/amazon_link] by Tina Welling to review.  This book is inspirational and from the heart.  Every page I turn to offers another gem of wisdom on how the natural world inspires and enlivens our writing and lives.

When we are in our bodies, with our awareness of place and sense of connectedness to life around us, we can trust what occurs to us and honor impulses.

Tina outlines this process of connecting with nature in a three steps called a “Spirit Walk”.

Even if you are not a creative writing, there is much to be gained from this book.
