That first meal. I still remember it. The look on my baby’s face as I tried to spoon rice cereal into their mouths. That first experience of texture on the tongue.
The transition to more solid food and less breast milk is a definitive landmark in child development, but it can be awkward. Having the right tool can help.
We were just sent [amazon_link id=”B00EZRVMME” target=”_blank” ]Spuni infant spoons[/amazon_link] to try.
The first baby spoon of its kind.
On a summer morning in 2011, two MIT friends – Marcel and Trevor – started brainstorming ways to change how babies transition to solid food, which led to an idea that evolved into the current design – a spoon engineered to improve the feeding experience for infants and their caretakers as they move from fluids to solids.
Initial observation determined that most existing baby spoons are only miniature versions of adult spoons – often too wide and too deep for infants’ mouths. As a result, infants rarely get to the food at the back of these spoons and that is where most of the mess comes from. Close observation of feeding habits and waste helped us develop a product that was truly unique in its geometry. Through early prototype tests, this new spoon worked exceptionally well with Spuni’s “test babies.”
I don’t have an infant to try these spoons on, but they look perfect. The slight curve makes for good ergonomics for parents, and the little spoon is shaped just enough so you do not put too much food in baby’s mouth.
Of course shape is important for your infant’s first spoon, but material safety is more important. Spuni is made from safe materials. I especially like the wooden version.
Spuni is available in every color under the rainbow…well, almost. Spuni currently comes in one size perfect for your baby’s first solid meal and beyond. Spuni is dishwasher safe and made from medical grade material TPE and is BPA, BPS, PVC and Phthalate free ensuring only the safest materials for your baby. Each set comes with two spoons.
