Walking into Costco yesterday, I was taken aback by the large quantities of toxic candy over packaged in small bites for the upcoming ghoulish holiday. Many people I know that only eat organic food will buy junk candy just for trick or treaters, but you don’t have to be a hypocrite on Halloween. There are many healthy options to give to trick-or-treaters.
We were sent Nutiva’s [amazon_link id=”B00KRFLH8C” target=”_blank” ]O’Coconut Lightly Sweetened Coconut Treat[/amazon_link] and [amazon_link id=”B00KRFLDR2″ target=”_blank” ] O’Coconut Lightly Sweetened Coconut Treat Hemp & Chia[/amazon_link] to try. These organic, fair trade, non-gmo treats are sweetened with tapioca syrup and are very satisfying.
Nutiva O’Coconut snacks are the perfect delicious anytime treat. Crafted from lightly sweetened organic coconut flakes, each treat contains 1.5 teaspoons of coconut oil. Coconut oil offers the nourishing benefits of medium-chain triglycerides, including lauric acid.
O’Coconut snacks are perfect for lunch boxes, to take on a hike, or anytime you want to satisfy a craving for a sweet, but healthy snack. Enjoy pure coconut flavor with O’Coconut Classic or try O’Coconut Hemp & Chia for a nutty taste and Omega-3 benefits.

When researching this product, I learned that coconut oil is similar to breastmilk in that it contains lauric acid.
Once a central part of the traditional Pacific Islander diet, luscious coconut is fast becoming a staple in modern healthy diets as well. Coconut contains lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid also found in human breast milk. Lauric acid makes up about 50% of coconut oil.
Our coconut products come from Southeast Asia, where the coconut oil is processed immediately upon harvesting. The creamy, white meat of the coconut is scooped out of the shell by hand. What you get is simply the creamy, fresh flavor of pure coconut.
Coconut oil is extremely versatile and can be used in place of both butter and other vegetable oils. A solid at cooler temperatures, it becomes liquid when warmed. It takes heat well and can be used for baking, sautéing, stir-frying or anywhere else you would use vegetable oil, shortening or butter.
There is no doubt breastmilk is a superfood!
