It had to happen. With all of the talk about hybrid/fuel efficient/earth friendly cars, you knew it would soon trickle down. Corgi, a manufacturer of die cast model cars, announced to day that they will be manufacturing a toy car fueled by green energy.
The company will unveil two state-of-the-art remote controlled cars at the Nuremberg toy fair next month, both using fuel cell technology and designed by concept car legend Luigi Colani, who has built concept vehicles for Corvette, BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes and Volvo.
The eco nature of remote control cars, of which we have a few, had never really bothered me but, I’m starting to look at toys a little differently these days. A solar powered toy car not only keeps batteries out of landfills, it teaches children the importance of going green.
“Hey mom, when are you going to get a fuel cell powered car?”

Fun post! We’ve actually built one of the model-versions of the solar cars and zoomed it around the cul-de-sac driving the dogs crazy…
Similarly, here’s a ‘big kid’ post I wrote about green machines (MIT/Stanford Vlab) re: Tesla Motors & the ‘new energy’ that’s Shaping Youth out there. Vrrroom! http://www.shapingyouth.org/blog/?p=300
