Recycled Fashion: Eco-Hip for your Baby

Looking for an eco conscious clothing option for your little one? Check out Forever Jack, a line made from recycled onesies and imprinted with a Dragonfly logo.

Forever Jack came to be after the founder, Jenny Sanford, lost one of her twin sons shortly after birth, a friend later shared the Dragon Fly Story as a way to remind the family that Jack is Forever. Now, Jenny imprints Dragonflies onto her recycled onesies and an outfit is born. You can read their full story on the website.

Here’s how the process works: Jenny collects any brand onesies (white for now, but she hopes to expand into colors in the future). She then places the onesies in a soak for 24 hours to clean out any stains. The solution is made up of Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Bleach and Seventh Generation Dishwasher Detergent. Once the soak is complete, the onesies are then laundered in Seventh Generation, dried and checked for any remaining stains. If a garment remains stained, it is donated to Goodwill. The logos are not imprinted until an order is placed, then the garments dry for 48 hours, are laundered again and shipped.

I am impressed with Jenny’s ability to turn a family tragedy into a wonderful memorial and to keep it earth friendly at the same time! These onesies will make an excellent baby shower or first birthday gift. I’m hoping Jenny branches out and adds t-shirts as my youngest is now past the onesie stage!

If ever you need to make a feel-good purchase, http://www.foreverjack.com is the place to go. Adorable onesies-that are recycled, a percentage of the profits is used to help others, a beautiful dragonfly story and the fact that the purpose of it all is to celebrate the life of precious baby Jack. What a sweet boy.
Good luck and God Bless to you, Jenny and family.

[…] I don’t think I can find the words to express how much I love the reclaimed t-shirt dresses by Angela Johnson. I’m in love with the idea of reclaimed and repurposed clothing. I have found myself sitting in front of a sewing machine on many occasions looking for ways to extend the life of a garment. A way to make something old, new again. […]
