Better Shoes for Little Feet: Simple Shoes

As colder weather approaches, we begin thinking about shoes for even the youngest feet. I have used and ADORED Robeez for my children. Now, we have a similar type of bootie with an earth friendly, sustainable footprint.

Even better news, Simple Shoes, the maker of the Infant’s Weebit (shown here in slate rose) also makes grown up shoes!

Simple Shoes are placed into three categories based on each shoes sustainability factors. Good, Better and Best. The Infant’s Weebit falls in the Best category. It is made of hemp uppers with woven (organic) cotton lining. Other materials include, PET, latex elastic, and felted wool. Simple’s packaging is made from post consumer recycled materials.

Sadly, these booties are available only up to size 12-18 months. I LOVE soft booties for my three year old (she is still wearing a pair of 12-18 month Robeez). However, as your munchkins feet grow, you have several options for super cute, sustainable shoes from Simple.

Liking Simple is easy. They are a company with a conscious. Practices are disclosed on the website and include many factors we forget exist. Simple shoes are made of natural materials such as organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, coconut, latex rubber, felted wool, and cork in addition to recycled and reclaimed materials such as inner tubes, tires, and PET plastic.

“Deckers Outdoor Corporation respects internationally recognized human rights and environmental standards and places them at the core of our business practices. We believe that no business should ever be complicit in human rights abuses. We promote greater environmental responsibility and we encourage the development and use of environmentally friendly technologies.” – From Simple Shoes Website

This is definitely a company I can feel good about supporting. It doesn’t hurt that the shoes are stylish and fun.
