Healthy Lunches: A Better Way to Protect Your Kids from Bullies than Fake Mold

fake mold protects your child\'s lunch from bulliesChalk this one up to bizarre products out there:  fake mold designed to protect your child from school lunch theives.  According to Wired:

Here’s a way to protect your kids from the school bully: Anti-theft lunch bags, adorned with artificial green splotches to make food look moldy. Just tell your kids not to eat lunch around their teacher, or you might be getting a visit from Child Protective Services.

Of course, there is an easy solution to the bully lunch problem…tofu!  Bullies don’t usually go for the tofu salad sandwich, but of course, you can always give it that little extra protection with some fake rancid mold. Then again, your child might get picked on for their vegetarian meal, but fortunately at my daughter’s school, almost half the population eat meat free.

I think this one falls into the useless category. Disposable plastic baggies to fake mold… hmmm… a little spinach puree will do the same thing if the parent feels the need (or wants to make a creepy halloween lunch).

We don’t tolerate bullies… the best way to protect your kids is to have lunch with them often. This way you can see what really goes on (and what kinds of foods are served/consumed).

dont bullies tend to come from dysfunctional homes, where they themselves are often bullied?

theyre probably being sent to school hungry, or given a poor lunch, or else why would they be going after other peoples?

the compassionate thing to do would to be to pack a second sandwich for this “bully” & for your kid to give it to him, letting him know you provided specially for him.

i think it would disarm the dominating factor & the bully will at the least have some respect your kid; if not, they may even become friends.

    its worth a try, anyway..

Jesus says to love your enemies & turn the other cheek.
