I first discovered Women for Women International when looking for a meaningful donation to make in honor of a friend’s sister who died tragically from a brain tumor. I wanted to support women in other countries, and I thought supporting courageous women in war torn countries was fitting to honor this courageous woman who battled for 10 years when given only a year to live.
This Mother’s Day, instead of getting my mother a photo gift or an item of clothing, I am going to honor her and what she has meant to my life (and my children’s) through a donation to Women for Women.
Where would we be without them. They fix it when it’s broken. They listen so you are heard. Mothers are universal. Their challenges are not.
Women in war-torn countries are rebuilding their lives while grieving lost husbands and children. Even a schoolbook or a hairbrush can be a luxury.
You can help. Honor an amazing mother that you know with a gift that helps women around the world create new lives for themselves and their families.
When making a donation for Mother’s Day, you can chose an inspiring story to share with your mom of a woman who has benefited from Women for Women. Is your mother resourceful, generous, optimistic, or ambitious?
I’ve chosen optimistic for my mother. From my parents’ divorce to my son’s congenital heart defect, even when her own fears were present, she buried them to remain optimistic for me. Her strength has gotten me through over an over again. Mom, I love you!

This would be a wonderful mother’s day gift. We have been sponsoring a woman each year for the last 3 years. It is truly a blessing and worth so much more than the actual cost.
