10 Facts About Robotic Pool Cleaners

10 Facts About Robotic Pool Cleaners

A robotic pool cleaner is a handy device that people can use to help them maintain their pool. It is a device that takes the place of a person and sucks debris out of the water and off the pool’s lining. Here are 10 facts about robotic pool cleaners.

  1. A robotic pool cleaner is actually a vacuum that can be used in water. Without having to be supervised by a person the cleaner removes sediment from the water in the pool. It is only one among many types of vacuum cleaners made specifically for swimming pools.
  2. A transformer is used to continually power a robotic cleaner. This transformer must be kept a minimum of 100 feet away from any pool. Many people choose to keep theirs on their deck. With two motors in the cleaner one sucks water out of the pool by using a filter bag found in the cleaner. It then cleans that water and releases it again. The other motor is a drive motor that is used to run the cleaner. This motor includes brushes that look like paint rollers and can be found on the back of the device as well as on the front of it. The brushes clean the bottom of the pool and the sides of it as well. Newer models of robotic pool cleaners can even clean the pool’s steps.
  3. A microchip is included in a robotic pool cleaner. It is pre-programmed to control the drive motor in the device. The chip is responsible for the pool cleaner turning around when it reaches the pool’s wall, allowing the device to be totally automated.
  4. There are sensors in the device that allow the cleaner to move back when it hits the wall of the pool. The sensor is on a delayed timer that turns the robotic pool cleaner off when the cleaning process is completed. The device goes through a cleaning cycle before turning back on to clean the pool again. This allows it to use less energy than it would otherwise and makes the entire cleaning process more efficient.
  5. Three natural principles of a robotic pool cleaner are that movement and traction are possible due to the device’s drive motor, large areas of the machine filled with water make it more buoyant and the force the device receives from the water is what propelled it around the pool.
  6. Certain models of robotic pool cleaners have brushes made of polyvinyl alcohol. This alcohol has a quality to it that allows it to adhere to the walls and floor of the pool. The use of polyvinyl alcohol on the device’s brush helps resist both oil and dirt. This improves the lifespan of the rubber that makes up the pool lining.
  7. Major benefits to using a robotic pool cleaner are that it is very easy to maintain, it doesn’t cost much to do so and it makes the process of keeping the pool clean much easier.
  8. Though this device is cheap to maintain, the average price paid for one is between $500 and $2,000 or more.
  9. The robotic pool cleaner evolves from the idea of water filtering. Early cistern cleaners have also contributed to the robotic pool cleaners used today.
  10. In 1967 a Boca Raton, Florida resident filed a patent for the world’s first robotic pool cleaner.

Purchasing a robotic pool cleaner is often a cheaper option in the long run than hiring a pool guy to do the job the automatic cleaner can do. Keeping a pool clean is important to prevent anyone using the pool from becoming sick. The majority of swimming pool owners use chlorine to sanitize their pool, yet chlorine can be dangerous for both people and pets. This is one good reason to invest in a robotic pool cleaner. In fact, too much exposure to chlorine can cause asthma in certain people.

When it comes to maintaining a swimming pool, pool supplies such as a robotic pool cleaner are important to have. They are effective in extending the life of a pool and make it easier and more convenient for anyone to own one.
