That constant urge to urinate with little results but burning sensations…the first time you experience a urinary tract infection (UTI), it can be scary. Not understanding the causes and natural treatments lead many women to take unnecessary antibiotics repeatedly.
About 60% of women will experience a UTI in their lifetimes. 25% of women will have recurring infections.1 This common problem causes anxiety and worry for many women. Thankfully, there are solutions.
What Causes UTIs?
A urinary tract infection is caused by bacteria in any part of the urinary tract: bladder, kidneys, ureters, and/or urethra. Predominantly infections occur in the bladder and urethra. 2 The most common bacteria that cause UTIs is Escherichia coli.3
Women are more prone than men to get UTI because there is a shorter distance from the urethra to the anus increasing the risk of infection. Furthermore, the female urethra is shorter than the male one, so there is less distance for the bacteria to travel to the bladder. Sexual activity, menopause, prolonged exercise, and birth control also make women more prone to UTIs.4 If you have had one UTI, you are more likely to have another.
How to Prevent and Treat UTIs Naturally
If you are suffering from recurring UTIs, it can be incredibly frustrating and painful. Your sexual partner may feel guilty as you rush to relieve your bladder after intercourse in the hopes of preventing another infection. In addition to urinating after sex, drinking lots of water is important for flushing bacteria out of the urethra. Experts also suggest wiping from front to back after defecating to prevent bacteria from entering the urinary tract.
For many women, the above steps are simply not enough. The infection and frustration returns. That constant urge to urinate even sometimes not making it to the bathroom in time before a few drops fall causes anxiety about even leaving the house. Staying near a bathroom is paramount.
The good news is most UTIs do not require antibiotic treatment; however, if the infection moves to the kidneys it can be very serious and does require medical care. Cranberry juice, the homeopathic remedy
Cranberry juice, the homeopathic remedy cantharis, and the herbal supplement horsetail may help at the first sign of infection. Alternatively, we just discovered a new product with great promise to prevent recurring UTIs.
Uqora Dietary Supplement Drink Prevents Recurring UTIs
We were sent a product that was developed to treat and prevent recurring UTIs and thus avoid antibiotic overuse.
Recurring UTIs and repeated antibiotic use can lead to antibiotic resistance, meaning the next time you get a UTI, it may be more and more difficult to fight off.
Those antibiotics cause other problems too. Since UTIs are commonly diagnosed on symptoms alone, very broad antibiotics are often prescribed. These don’t just kill the bad bacteria, but some of the good bacteria too. As a result, antibiotic use for UTIs can lead to other problems like yeast infections. This is because your good bacteria, keeping yeast populations in check, are killed off by the antibiotics. 5
Uqora was created by CEO Jenna Ryan to solve her own problem of recurring UTIs. These drink packets taste great and can be taken daily, immediately after sex, and/or during the first signs of infection. It is important to note that if the symptoms do not go away within 24 hours, medical care may be necessary. Using scientific evidence, Uqora was developed with natural ingredients.

The Uqora drink-mix is a dietary supplement product designed to reduce the likelihood of urinary tract infections caused by sexual activity in women. Uqora is a preventative drink-mix intended for consumption after intercourse. Uqora’s ingredients include: D-mannose, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Potassium Citrate, Magnesium Citrate.
D-mannose is a 6-carbon sugar that has been the subject of research in relation to UTI’s due to the mannose-specific adherence of E. coli to urothelial cells. Quickly excreted in the urine, D-mannose acts as a competitive inhibitor for the P fimbriae protein in the urinary tract. D-mannose binds the fimbrial adhesin, preventing it from binding the mannose-containing glycoproteins on the exterior urothelial membrane (1,8). Unable to bind to the urinary tract wall, E. coli is flushed out during urination (11). The mechanism as well as clinical efficacy of D-mannose is strongly supported in the literature.
The ability of E. coli strands to colonize the urinary tract is dependent on the presence of the P fimbriae, confirming its role in adhering to the urinary tract wall (15). In a 308 subject, randomized clinical trial, D-mannose supplementation was compared to control over a 6-month period. Those without D-mannose supplementation were 4 times as likely to develop a UTI over a 6-month period, with 15 individuals developing UTI’s in the D-mannose group, compared to 59 in the control (1). The dose during this study was 2g, which is the dose in one packet of the Uqora product. 6
This product is so exciting and has rave reviews! Reviewer after reviewer has finally found relief from recurring UTIs. I cannot verify the effectiveness personally, but I believe the research and personal anecdotes! My recurring UTIs mysteriously ended a few years ago thankfully, although I am still paranoid they will return.
My worse UTI experience occurred taking my daughter to a concert. On the long drive down to the Bay Area, I noticed the telltale signs of a UTI. We were on the road, and I had the constant urge to pee. We stopped often at dirty gas station toilets, which made the symptoms even worse. At Whole Foods, I bought cranberry pills and baking soda, as I read online that would help. When we arrived at the concert venue, in addition to my constant urge to pee, I now had diarrhea from the baking soda! Obviously, a crowded, loud concert with bathroom lines was not the place to be. Oh, how I wish I would have known about Uqora then!
Women who suffer from recurring UTIs finally have a solution that does not involve antibiotics. When you suffer from repeated UTIs, you become paranoid after intercourse, surfing, long camping trips, etc. It’s so simple to just drink a packet of pink lemonade Uqora and continue life without worrying about UTIs.
