For most babies, boobies are a playground and a yoga studio and a gymnastics center, a drive-thru smoothie shop, and a small motor skills workshop. Mom is an all-in-one docking station.
In this picture, our daughter is actually latched on and nursing, turned completely away from mama (who is not so amused).
As she got older, her antics would progress from lying on her side, just nursing peacefully, through:
- some arm circles
- bicycling with her legs
- twisting her body and reaching with her feet as far as possible
- lying-down jumping jacks
- nursing upside down (with her belly on mama’s side, leaning over)
- downward dog nursing
- walking her feet up the wall
- burrowing with her feet under our arms and legs
- nursing with her head under mama’s arm from behind
- clogging and tap-dancing step workouts
- kicking the covers off every 5 minutes
- doing the splits
- belly button exploration
- conversations about boobies (her word: bee-boos)
- multiple pee breaks
- and then getting up and starting to play just when we thought she was going to sleep.
What’s your most memorable boobie gymnastics event?

This is hilarious! My little guy is just shy of three months, so his games are mild compared to these. But he does already enjoy bouncing on and off again and again and again and smiling and giggling in between. I can see where we’re headed…

Funny post! Breastfeeding has really been brought to the forefront this week in my home state of KY. I’m ashamed to admit that a local McDonald’s tried to have a mother arrested for breastfeeding her 4 month old in the restaurant yesterday morning. No wonder KY is ranked 50th of states that promote breastfeeding!:( As a former breastfeeder of 3 children, I am always trying to get the word out to other moms.

What a funny post. Love the look on Mama’s face 🙂 Our son is only three months old, so he still just hangs out when he’s nursing, although he’s started to pull off and grin at me and then get back to business. Maybe he’s thinking about all the multi-tasking he’ll be doing while nursing once he’s older…

Hmm… The funniest was when I was getting ready to nurse my son (he was around 16 or 17 months). I didn’t roll to the side quickly enough for him, so he got up on all fours, mouth open wide and latched right on. He proceeded to twist and turn before resting his head on my other breast, sprawled out on me… happily nursing. It wasn’t his most acrobatic, but the look on his face as he leaned in… it was priceless.
