Islington to use Solar Panels to bring jobs and cut fuel bills

Islington to use Solar Panels to bring jobs and cut fuel bills.

To help save tenants and leaseholders money, every council estate in Islington, London will install solar panels after the go-ahead was announced. The rooftops will see photovoltaic (PV) installed, on council property for a 25 year period.

This however means that they seek a partner to help finance the costs, but they will receive a share of the money, made from the power, once they have been installed.

Councillor – Paul Smith (Labour) said, “The partnership will work by generating electricity to cut service charges for residents, raising money to tackle fuel poverty and making homes cheaper to heat.”

“It should be a win-win plan. Also, it will provide jobs and, importantly, at a time when we have hugely reduced budgets because of government cuts, it will not cost taxpayers.”

What are Solar Panels?

Solar Panels convert light into electricity, in which they are converted by a collection of solar cells. If lots of solar cells are grouped together, they will provide enough power to be useful, to either your home or business. Ideally the more light that is shone onto the solar cells will generate more electricity.

Great idea. Too bad we don’t get that much sun in London. This should be implemented in Florida and the south, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, California..

Solar trackers are also great investments as they positioned to the sun’s direct light gathering more energy for generation. They also work best for areas with minimal sunlight as they help gather maximum amount of energy.

He could take a tooth and tell when that tooth's owner stopped nursing. His colleague Tanya Smith, who studies human evolution at Harvard, knew just the tooth to test first. "It's a first molar tooth from a Neanderthal from a site in Belgium called Scladina," Smith says. The tooth is 100,000 years old and perfectly preserved. Analyzing the tooth's barium distribution, the researchers determined that this Neanderthal started weaning after about 7 months, and then transitioned to a mixed diet. At 15 months, the barium signal dropped abruptly, as if mother and child had been separated.
