Annivesary Celebrations: Gift Ideas Sure to Win

Celebration of a wedding anniversary is a wonderful thing – it gives a couple the chance to take time out of their busy daily lives to remember what brought them together. As my 10th wedding anniversary approaches, I struggle to think of something to give my husband that expresses what he means to me while being useful to us in at least some practical way. Being a minimalist, he doesn’t like having things around the house that we don’t need.

Traditional gifts for a 10th wedding anniversary are tin or aluminum. The flexibility of the metal is supposed to be a symbol of the flexibility and durability of a good marriage; it can bend without breaking. More recently diamonds have become popular for the 10th wedding anniversary as well, another symbol of the strength in marriage, but diamonds aren’t a gift a husband is waiting for with bated breath.

Don’t fret if you are looking for the perfect gift for your 10th anniversary, you have some options out there. I recommend two things: picking the right location and buying gifts from Personal Creations for an anniversary.  Doing these will things will help to make sure that your special day with your husband (or wife) is memorable and tailor made just for them.

Pick a Location

Think about fun places to be. If the two of you are the outdoorsy type and your anniversary is in any warm season, buy a bottle of wine and a couple of personalized 10th anniversary wine glasses. Pack up bread, cheese, and grapes, and have a picnic at your favorite outdoors location. If you are a couple into music, movies, or live theater buy tickets on or around your anniversary to see a show or band that you have always talked about but never got around to. If you enjoy being together in private and have kids at home, consider getting an overnight babysitter and paying for a suite hotel room for a romantic (but still local) getaway.

Find the Right Gift

This task can be difficult whether you are buying for a husband or a wife because even though it’s been years since you married let’s face it, the opposite sex is still a mystery in many ways. Here are some great Personal Creations for an anniversary that are sure to be winners:

  • ·  A Then and Now photo frame is a great way to bring the past and the present together. You can select the number of years and have the appropriate photos put into it.
  • ·  A customized galvanized tub with a stand is a great idea for couples who like to have gatherings, and it may not be tin or aluminum but the sentiment behind the metal remains the same.
  • ·  If your anniversary is close to Christmas, get a personalized ornament for the tree. You can even turn this into an event by giving it as a gift while decorating the tree.
  • ·  For coffee lovers, His and Hers coffee mugs are a sure win. Pair it with a bag of specialized coffee and coffee cake for a great start to the day.
  • ·  New memory foam or down pillows covered by personalized pillowcases is a practical gift that keeps on giving in comfort day after day.

When choosing a gift just remember that the more useful and creative it is the more likely it is to be a winner. Consider longstanding jokes you share or memorable locations when selecting the right gift. If you can measure your marriage in cars, creating a small gag gift of pictures or stories about the cars can bring fun and humor to the day.

Just keep in mind that presentation and timing is everything. An simple gift will have a much stronger impact if presented in the right way at the right time, so give it a little thought before giving it to your spouse.
