PicMonkey Alternative: Fotor Free Photo Editing

When analog photography moved digital, so did photo editing. What was once manipulated in the darkroom is now done on the computer. Photo editing software can be very expensive and difficult to use. Online photo editors are much more simple to use and can be free.

PicMonkey is a popular online photo editor. Unfortunately, this service is no longer free beyond a 7-day trial. An excellent free photo online editor is Fotor.   Photo editing is easy with Fotor. Tutorials walk you through every step.

I recently went on a backpacking trip with my son and 46 other seventh and eighth graders. Taking photos in the redwoods can be challenging due to the shadows. Here is my original photo shot with an iPhone.

Simply clicking on the “1-Tap Enhance” feature improved the photo greatly.

Under the basics tab, sliders appear to easily adjust the contrast, saturation, brightness, and sharpness. Further fine-tuning is available. In addition, color, vignette, and RGB curves adjustments create more options for enhancing your photos.  After just a few minutes of playing around, my photo looks way better.

Fotor is a great online, free photo editor that allows you create great photo effects. These effects would be great for enhancing your Halloween photos. They are really fun to play around with and make your photos super interesting. My favorite photo effect is the one where you can turn your photos into the style of famous paintings.  The picture below utilizes the watercolor painting effect. This would be so much fun to do with Halloween photos to make them more interesting.

Another awesome feature of the free online photo editor Fotor is the options for photo design. Easily create cards, Facebook cover photos, posters, YouTube channel art, and YouTube thumbnails. You can save your work in the cloud to access it anywhere. Fotor also supports HD PDF files for printing, as well as easy instant sharing to social media.

Fotor is free, unlike PicMonkey. It is extremely versatile and easy to use. It is very intuitive and fun to play with to make all your photos more interesting. Let your kids get involved and see how creative the whole family can be!
