Into the Trees: A book About a Child's First Adventure Into the Woods

Mini G\'s first adventure into the forestI grew up in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. We had a yard with trees, and the park and river were not too far away.  I was fortunate my parents took me on weekend hiking trips in the Hocking Hills of southern Ohio (although I called “hocking in the Hiking Hills”). Reading Into the Trees, part of the Mini G Deluxe Baby Gift Set, I was reminded of my early adventures into the woods as a child.

Those early, enjoyable hiking trips set the stage for my environmentalism and decision to live in a remote, natural setting.

Into the Trees is the story of Mini G’s first walk into the woods. In the forest, Mini G discovers many natural wonders:

Gurgle. Gurgle. Bubble. Bubble.

Mini G had found quite a surprise.

“Look, Dad!  Look!  Look what I’ve found!

There’s water bubbling up right from the ground!”

On the way home, Mini G and his father discover a bottle on the ground.  They pick up this litter and commit to a lifelong relationship with nature.

Into the Trees is just one part of the Mini G Deluxe Baby Gift Set. This set includes:

» “Into the Trees”; original hardcover children’s book
» three organic cotton onesies (6 mo sitting, 9 mo crawling, 12 mo standing)
» two organic cotton bibs (milk bottle pose, spoon pose)
» personal note from sender on 100% recycled paper

Perhaps Into the Trees will inspire me to write a book from my mountain children’s perspective of visiting the big city for the first time.  Ahh, the wonders of traffic, homeless people, smell of urine on the sidewalks, and stress… Besides, new research supports what I have always personally know:  Nature benefits the brain; cities impair mental function.
