Green Toys: Recycled Cardboard Paintable Schoolhouse Promotes Creativity

green toy schoolhouseAny parent knows that children love cardboard boxes.  Often, the box a present comes in encourages more creative play than the toy it once contained.  Imagination Box Co. was born out of this cardboard creativity.

After raising three kids and seeing how much waste there was in the toy industry, we said, “NO MORE,” and began making many of our children’s toys. An old box became a way to stimulate their creativity and recycle at the same time. They loved them and so did the neighborhood kids. It took about 17 years, but…voila…Imagination Box Co was born!

Made in the USA, Imagination Box Co. toys are completely recyclable and made from 45% post consumer materials.  Each set comes with watercolors, so that your child may decorate and assemble their own toy. For my eight-year-old daughter, it has provided hours of entertainment and excitement.

One of the things I love about Imagination Box Co.’s schoolhouse is the eco-friendly touches to the building. This school has recycling bins and solar panels on the roof.  It also has pro-social messages inside as classroom decorations, such as “Respect, Love, Honesty” and “Knowledge is Freedom”. This is the school you want your child to attend.

Imagination Box Co. makes several other cardboard buildings for your child’s dramatic play, such as a country cottage.  We have reviewed another cardboard house, which my children still play with regularly, and I have been surprised at how well it has held up over time.  The only difference between this house and the Imagination Box Co. version has more detail and allows the child to paint their on exterior and interior. I prefer the Imagination Box Co. schoolhouse, as it has provided more entertainment for my child.

Disclosure: We were sent a schoolhouse in order to write this review. No advance assurances were given as to whether the review would be positive or negative.
