Ever since the confession announcement made by SIGG that their bottles made before August 2008 contained BPA every one’s been a bit leery about green products and their believability.
SIGG was one of the first companies that all the greenies were using instead of BPA filled plastic bottles-then to find out that we’d been duped…
Anyway, if you don’t want to use SIGG products for your kids (or you) anymore, no matter what they say about their new stuff, there are alternatives.
The new Thermos Foogo line for little ones is all BPA free.
“Thermos L.L.C., has taken its commitment to providing convenient drinkware options to the next level with the launch of Thermos® Foogo® Phases™, a new line of sippy cups and straw bottles for infants and toddlers that allows parents to easily customize the drink cups to their child’s changing developmental needs. Offering BPA-free drink cups in double wall vacuum-insulated stainless steel and Eastman Tritan™ plastic, Thermos Foogo Phases features an interchangeable lid and body system providing up to 24 possible drinkware combinations.”
The Thermos Foogo Phases cups are sturdy, cute, safe, reusable and BPA free for your little ones with a phase for each little stage allowing for a product that will grow with you child.
Phase 1 is for ages 6 months and up. The cups offer double handles for little hands to easily get a grip and a safe spout that won’t hurt tender gums.
Phase 2 is the sippy cup for older kids ages 12 months and up. This cup has a contoured body for easy grip, a chew resistant spout and a leak proof lid.
Phase 3 is for the child who is ready to drink from a straw. The cup features a pop up straw and a leak proof lid.
All three cups come in stainless steel and Tritan co-polymer (BPA Free Hard Plastic) options.
The Tritan cups are clear, easy to clean, and lightweight. The stainless steel cups offer vacuum sealed insulation that keeps drinks fresh for 6-10 hours depending upon the model.
I had the chance to try a couple of these new Foogo cups, one plastic and one stainless steel and my preference is for…
The stainless steel cups (though the Tritan is nice, too).
I love the stainless steel cups because they keep the drinks fresh for much longer than your average cup. This means less bacteria build up and less wasted drinks. It also means drinks will stay fresh while on the go. Which is always a good thing for shopping trips, errand running, doctor visits and the multitude of other places busy moms go with their little ones.
I like this product because it is a safe, BPA free, and very adorable (the pink sippy cups make me wish I had a little girl again) cup option for children. Plus the stainless steel cups just look so sleek and shiny you can’t help but be attracted to them.
Another thing I like about the stainless steel sippy cup…my little guy really likes it. He was so excited that he has a cool stainless steel cup just like mommy and daddy and his older brother and sister. Sure he shares some of the stainless steel bottles we have with the sport tops but now he has his very own stainless steel sippy cup that’s all his.
But the one thing that really gets my attention is that Thermos is a name I trust. Sure they didn’t start out as a “green” company but they’ve been around forever. Thermos is a name I grew up with. I have plenty of Thermos coffee mugs and drink containers that have accompanied my family on many a road trip. (Not to mention ancient Thermos Collectibles that belonged my parents and grandparents).
Seeing that they now offer products for children…well yeah I am going to trust them and purchase their products.
They aren’t a fly by night company trying to be green, they aren’t just offering a greenwashed product to make a buck, no they are offering a product that people can trust. A product that goes right along with the types of products that they’ve been making all along- sturdy, quality, reusable drink containers that you can take anywhere.

That’s great that they’ve come up with a healthier sippy cup alternative. I bought a Klean Kanteen sippy for my DS when he was still itty bitty. Those water bottles are stainless steel as well; I just don’t trust plastic for drinking water, BPA-free or not.
could i please have a free sample of the pop up srtw cup
