Gluten Free Ginny Bakes

gluten freeI love cookies!  I am a cookie addict!  Gluten free, organic, and GMO-free cookies are the best!  When homemade cookies aren’t available, it’s nice to know there are companies making quality cookies for addicts like me.

Why Gluten Free?

Even if you are not a Celiac or intolerant of gluten, you can still benefit from gluten free grains.  Although we should limit our intake of complex carbohydrates and sugar due to what it does to our blood sugar, GF grains are usually easier to digest.

Live Science explains, “Gluten is the only protein found in food that is completely indigestible.”[1]http://www.livescience.com/53061-gluten-free-diet-facts.html

Of course, cookies are cookies, and GF junk food is still junk food.  Nutritionist Jessica Fishman Levinson  and registered dietitian Katherine Tallmadge explain:

People who only eat foods that are inherently gluten-free, like fruits, vegetables, gluten-free whole grains, lean protein, healthy fats, then gluten-free can be a healthy diet. “But if gluten-containing products are replaced with highly processed gluten-free foods like pastries, energy bars, etc., you will not lose weight and you may in fact gain weight as many GF foods are higher in calories than their gluten-containing replacements,” added Levinson.

Addressing the claims by people without celiac disease that following a gluten-free diet makes them feel better, Tallmadge wrote, “… the feeling of wellness that many attribute to the removal of gluten from their diets is more likely due to the absence of the refined carb- and sugar-laden snacks and desserts that happen to contain the protein. But why not simply cut out those refined foods and keep the healthy gluten-containing foods?[2]http://www.livescience.com/53061-gluten-free-diet-facts.html

Moderation is key, but when you want a treat, why not go for digestible grains.

We tried GinnyBakes Gluten-free Ginger Crisp Love cookies.

when organic ginger cozies up to allspice and molasses, ginger crisp love is the gluten-free twist on the traditional, spicy gingersnap. fall in love and indulge mindfully with ginnybakes!

organic • gluten-free • non-gmo • kosher

These cookies are not vegan, but they are everything else!  They are made in a dedicated gluten-free facility. This very important for Celiacs, as even a little cross contamination can make them very ill.

I think these cookies are a little hard and sweet for my taste, but they are good. I prefer chocolate chip cookies. That’s my cookie bias.

Ginger is really good for digestive issues and motion sickness. If your child gets car sick, these ginger cookies would be a great sweet remedy.

I look forward to trying more GinnyBakes varieties!
